Dear Zaadz,

Eight months ago you awarded me a winner of the Change the World Scholarship.  I wanted to change the world one laugh at a time.  I needed the money, but what was even more valuable was the inspiration to keep my word and start changing the world.  I felt confident, but I didn't have much guidance.  So I watched The Secret, got inspired, and prayed to the universe to show me the way.

Three weeks later I recieved a forwarded email from the UW performance committee
"searching for aspiring comedians to compete in a fundraiser".  So I went to my first audition.

Six months ago I posted the video from my first real gig, "My First Time", and dedicated it to Zaadz.

Since then I performed in Silence is Violence--a show produced by a spiritual soul mate of mine who will change the world as only a survivor could.  I performed a bit called "I love myself" in hopes of recruiting others to join our revolution of self-love.  That's right.  I am now starting a revolution that plans on changing the world one self-lover at a time.

And of course, as your emcee for the night, I have hosted the ever-fabulous drag shows here at UW.  Talk about an entertainment resume'...

Things were spaced out tho, and I needed more experience, but was feeling uncertain.  So I asked the universe for guidance once again, and then I came across a Craigslist ad for a job at the Comedy Club on State.  I couldn't believe it (but thank god I did anyway), my first time ever browsing craigslist, and I come across the one job I've been wanting for months (only when I tried to apply in Feb they weren't hiring).
I got the job.  I fit right in.  It's like a huge family, I absolutely love it there.  And now I'm surrounded by comedy all the time.  It was EXACTLY what I needed.  And after tip-toeing around it for a month, I finally asked to audition, and I got my first gig as an official amateur comedian!  I also made Comedy Club history as the first female on staff to perform.  Out of 30 acts I've seen there, I've only seen one other woman perform.

One month later I had my debut.  Here is the video.  Please enjoy, and thank you for your support.  I hope you will join my revolution.  We have a long way to go, but my revolution and I have just a few months left before we leave UW- Madison to finish school at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands, and we are DESPERATELY LOOKING FOR SPONSERS who believe in our dream.  My plan is to keep learning and performing and growing so that eventually I have a gig MUCH longer than "5 minutes", and then I can really start changing the world.

*Dear Universe, please lead me to someone who believes in my dream.
Infinite love,
jes*
