MY FIRST TIME

Ok. So, as I was sitting on a beach in Florida last December, watching
the sunset with some friends, I got a call from Obi (yes, THE Obi),
letting me know that I was a winner of Zaadz's "Change the World"
scholarship contest. I was inspired. My essay was about how I was going
to change the world by creating a new form of entertainment: mostly a
unique synthesis of stand-up comedy and inspirational speaking.
After
the new year, and with the start of a new semester, I had no more
excuses for not getting started on my journey. I threw my intentions to
the universe, and trusted that if I willed hard enough, it would just
come to me. In just a few days, I received an email "calling all campus
wanna-be stand-up comedians". I auditioned, and low and behold, I
landed my FIRST gig. It was a charity contest. I finished 3rd (out of
9)!
Whenever I watch this video, the sense of pride I feel is
indescribable. I barely remember any of it, as I entered "the zone" and
my subconcious took over, following loosely the script I had only
outlined for myself...I'd say I forgot about 40% of the things I was
going to say, and made up about 40% of what I said on the spot. The
energy was ridiculous. I've never felt so high. This only proves that
this is what I am meant to do. Thank you, Zaadz. This one's for you.

Dear Sis/Sexologist/Stand-up person/motivational speaker,
That shit was hilarious. I laughed my ass off the whole time. You have found your destiny, no all you have to do is live it. Unfortunately that is as equally hard, and more time consuming than just trying to find it. But congrats anywho. I can definitly see Dad thinking that some of that stuff would not be funny, but like a lot of other things about life, he would be wrong. When is the next gig? I do not think you can afford me as a manager yet, I will work for free if you are ready and willing to do the gigs. Make a solid plan for a trip out here, I will get a gig going. Holla…and word to your mom
